TWO-TRY hero Tom Lineham hailed a brilliant team performance as Warrington Wolves booked their ticket to the Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 13.

His second score, five minutes from full-time, sealed an 18-13 victory to knock out League Leaders'  Shield winners St Helens on their patch.

But Lineham talked of the game being as nervy to play in as it was to watch, as the scoring went to and fro in the second period.

"When the Saints drop goal went over off the crossbar I looked up to the skies and thought this isn't our day," said Lineham, referring to the point Saints went 13-12 in front going into the final 10 minutes.

"I think Wigan in the Challenge Cup quarter final was our last drop goal so we just had to score tries instead.

"To get the result at the Totally Wicked Stadium against Saints, who have been without doubt the best team this year it's just a great, great feeling."

The Wire, fourth-place finisheres in Super League, had been royally written off as the sport braced itself for the potential of a Saints-Wigan final.

"They had seven players in the Dream Team this year and we didn't have any," said the former Hull speedster known affectionately as 'The Flying Pig'.

"On paper it was an absolute mismatch but we showed the heart and desire, the mental toughness to stay in the game and grind it out.

"A couple of decisions didn't go our way but we stuck at it.

"Discipline was questionable at times but we stuck at it. We were clinical, three tries to one, defence was brilliant.

"Everyone just worked really hard, stayed in every play, stayed in every moment, to get the win and it's brilliant for everybody involved in the club."
