AMAZON has announced it is raising its minimum wage to £9.50 for all employees.
Staff who work full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonally at its bases, including the warehouse on Omega, will benefit from the increase.
The new wage will start on November 1 and also includes associates employed by temp agencies.
More than 17,000 Amazon employees, as well as more than 20,000 seasonal holiday employees will benefit from the new, higher pay.
Employees will continue to receive benefits, including private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, paid breaks and a company pension plan.
Amazon also offers Career Choice, a programme that provides funding for adult education, offering to pre-pay 95 per cent of tuition and associated fees for nationally recognised courses.
