A JAMMED conveyor belt caused a fire at a chemical company this morning, Monday.
At around 7.30am, firefighters were called to a report of smoke coming out of machinery at Perstorp UK Ltd , a chemical factory on Baronet Road in Lower Walton.
The fire is believed to have been caused by friction from a jammed conveyor belt in a sacking machine.
The machine was smouldering when the crew arrived but the fire had been put out.
Firefighters isolated the electricity supply to the conveyor belt and made sure that the machine was safe.
The crew from Warrington Fire Station were in attendance for around 25 minutes.
