A PRIMARY school girl has donated 14 inches of her hair to charity after she told her mum she wanted to help other children with cancer.

Abbie Pullen, a pupil at Twiss Green Primary School in Culcheth, made the kind-hearted gesture because she didn’t want children to be bullied because their hair had fallen out following cancer treatment.

Her proud mum Nicki said: “She has been asking for a few months and I told her to think about it for a while but she kept asking so I knew she really wanted to do it.”

She surprised her fellow classmates at the start of the new school year with her hair cut, much to their delight.

Seven-year-old Abbie has raised more than £400 for the Little Princess Trust , a charity that provides wigs made from real hair free of charge to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment.

Abbie has always worn her hair in long plaits and so it has been a shock for everyone to see her don a bob for the first time.

Nicki, 44, added: “I don’t recognise her sometimes as I’m so used to styling her long hair!”

Although Nicki was sad to see her daughter’s long locks go, she is relieved at the quick hair-drying time.

Abbie visited Angelina Grace Contemporary Hair on Church Lane in Culcheth to get the 14-inches chopped off.

Mum Nicki must now send off the hair and money raised to the Little Princess Trust and Abbie will receive a certificate from the charity and a thank you.

The Twiss Green Primary School pupil was also given a ‘superb citizenship’ award by the school in recognition of her generous and thoughtful donation to charity.
