WE are spoilt for choice with supermarkets in Warrington with the 'big four' – Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys Tesco – all in the town alongside many others like the popular discount stores Aldi and Lidl.

But Warrington Guardian readers have named Asda the best supermarket of 2018 in our Food and Drink Awards.

The retailer and grocery giant was praised for its range of products including its clothes and home range, value for money, the helpfulness of its staff and its reliability.

Asda has a supermarket in the town centre at the Cockhedge Centre as well as stores in Westbrook and Birchwood.

Manager Gareth Woods has run Asda Westbrook for two years.

The 34-year-old said: "We're delighted to accept this Food and Drink Award from the Warrington Guardian.

"The team here at Asda work hard behind the scenes to ensure that we give our customers the best quality produce, we’re all thrilled to have been recognised for the delivery of great service.

"On behalf of everyone at the store, we'd like to thank everyone from the area for their continued support and of course for the award.

Gareth is particularly pleased to pick up the accolade as he is a food lover whose favourite place to eat out in Warrington is Bombay 8 at Gemini Retail Park. The Indian restaurant was shortlisted for our customer service award.

Gareth added: "It's an exciting time for food and drink in Warrington at the moment with lots of new places popping up and so I'm really pleased to have won the award. "

"Staff are always so helpful…even when I’m pointing out random ingredients out of a recipe book!"

Janette Mills

"I really like the range of products and think it’s good value for money. Always do my big shop here and then get the odd treat in other places."

Nicola Tillburn

"I don’t do my food shopping here but it gets my vote for the range of clothes and home stuff as well as the staff. I think they’re great."

Sarah Adams

"You can always rely on Asda. They’ve helped me out of plenty of times when I’ve forgotten to get my little lad a birthday cake!"
