THIS week in Yester Years we travel back in time to the turn of the 20th century.
These remarkable pictures come from the collection of Martin Culleton, from Fearnhead.
He was among the last people to work at the Monks Hall iron and steel works in Warrington and made sure these pictures were saved from the scrap heap.
Monks, which was based in Sankey, boasted an impressive history in Warrington, closing in 1986 having opened in 1874.
This picture, above, is from 1904 and shows the forge taken from the gas plant.
The company was vast and the factory stretched along the Mersey.
Behind the works passes the railway and nearby was Liverpool Road and the Sankey Canal.
