MORE than 100 runners dressed in purple to raise almost £4,000 over the EHM weekend.

The team of Riv's Runners entered 115 runners across all distances from the night 5k on Friday to the full half marathon on Sunday.

Organiser Sharon Dunne said that was up from 25 last year and it smashed her target of 50 for the races.

The runners have raised £3,795 so far and hope to get to £4,000 by the weekend.

Among the number to take part were twins Colin and Keith Johnstone from Leeds who completed the half in 1.27 and 1.37 respectively.

Keith said "I changed from my usual MND colours to support a charity close to my heart, the River Reeves Foundation.

"It was an honour to run in their purple vest and raise money to support the young people of Warrington.

"I'm really proud of everyone this weekend and we'll be back to support the RRF in the future."

The River Reeves Foundation was set up after the death of Viola Beach guitarist River, and his bandmates and manager Craig Tarry in Sweden in 2016.

The charity aims to help young people realise their dreams as actors, writers, artists, directors and musicians through grants, donations and other payments.
