All lanes have now RE-OPENED.

A Highways England spokesman added: "Delays remain on approach, however they are clearing well. Thank you for your patience."

There had been delays of more than an hour in the area and congestion was backed up to junction 19 for Knutsford.

The collision involved three cars and two vans.
