A TEENAGER was slapped across the face after telling a man he couldn't use his bike.

At 6.45pm last night, Thursday, a 16-year-old boy was riding his bike along Greenwood Crescent in Orford when he was approached by a man.

The man asked the teenager if he could ride his bike and when the boy said no the offender slapped him across the face.

He then walked away from the incident in the direction of Humber Road.

The boy was left with an injury to his lip.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

Detective constable Michael McDermott, of Warrington CID, said: “This was a shocking unprovoked attack leaving the teenage boy quite shaken.

“I would encourage anyone who may have any information or have seen the incident take place to come forward and call 101.”
