AN angry resident has urged the council to take action after counting dozens of dog poos left in an Orford children’s play area.

Lee Van Dusen’s video tour of the football and basketball enclosure in St Peter’s Park shows the staggering amount of mess left behind by irresponsible owners.

He counted a total of 31 dog poos in the Scott Street play area on Monday, September 10.

Signage at the entrance to sports zone specifically state that no dogs are allowed in the area.

Lee said: “I’m doing this video so it will hopefully go to the right people, and that somebody will come onto this park and clean this mess up so the kids don’t get it in their eyes or on their shoes.

“Somebody, take note.”

Residents have been advised to report examples of dog fouling.

A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said: “Dog fouling is one of the most common yet avoidable problems in communities – we would urge all dog owners to act responsibly and to clean up after their pets to keep public areas clean and safe for others to enjoy.

“We need residents to be our eyes and ears to help support the environmental crime team – we appreciate it’s often difficult to witness actually fouling, but if anyone witnesses dog fouling take place or suspects they have information about irresponsible dog owners they are urged to report as much information as possible to us.

“We are also currently considering various options for introducing a public space protection order in Warrington to help address the issue of dog-related anti-social behaviour – we will be publishing a consultation questionnaire in the coming months and we want to hear from as many residents as possible to help to decide the future of dog control and dog fouling across the borough.”
