A NATIONAL construction company has raised thousands of pounds for a new classroom at the Walton Lea Partnership.

Senior project manager for Vinci Construction, Paul Turner, arranged and hosted a charity golf day to raise funds for the charity last Thursday, September 6.

The day was co-facilitated through support from Warrington Business Exchange and the sell-out event brought together Warrington Business Exchange members and other businesses working with Vinci for a fun day at Walton Hall.

The event raised £7,000 for the charity which supports vulnerable adults and young people with learning disabilities to learn and develop skills through training and supported work in social enterprises.

Vinci Construction UK (VCUK), through its charitable foundation, had already made a £10,000 donation to the Walton Lea Partnership in July.

The Walton Lea Partnership was chosen as the adopted charity for Vinci to partner as part of their commitment to corporate social responsibility through their Stand Out, Make A Difference Days.

Vinci Construction were appointed by Warrington Borough Council last September to start the main build and final phase of the multi-million pound Time Square regeneration project in Warrington town centre.

Viv Lacey, trustee and change director for the Walton Lea Partnership commented:"What Vinci are doing for the charity is transforming what we are able to provide to the learning disabled people we exist to support through learning, development and our social enterprises.

"Combined with Vinci’s earlier cheque, the second generous donation from Paul Turner’s Vinci Golf Day will buy a wooden classroom at Walton Lea where we will run new programmes of accredited learning.

"Paul’s team have really put their hearts into making change happen."

Paul Turner, senior project manager for Vinci Construction added: "Our golf day was great success aided by the kind generosity of VCUK’s supply chain donations and participation, along with the Business Exchange members making it a very enjoyable day for all concerned.

"Furthermore it is very humbling for us to be supporting The Walton Lea Partnership which is a wonderful charity that does great work."

Cllr Pat Wright, executive member for statutory health and adult social care at Warrington Borough Council, said: "It is so heartening to see businesses in Warrington supporting the fabulous work that our local charities do.

"The Walton Lea Partnership does superb work which makes a massive difference to the people that it helps support.

"Vinci have set a great example to other businesses.

"Thank you to them, to all the businesses who supported the event and to Warrington Business Exchange."
