A REUNION takes place next month for pupils at a school which was demolished 50 years ago.

Former students at St Alban’s RC School on King Street are invited to the event at St Benedict’s Social Centre, Rhodes Street, on Wednesday, October 17 from 7pm.

The town centre school, which was demolished in 1968 to make way for the redevelopment of the town centre, originally housed the junior and senior classes, with the playgrounds and side entrance close to the old Fire Station, and opposite Heathside School.

As well as children living within the town centre, many children walked from the Bewsey estate to King Street. After the school’s closure the junior pupils moved to the newly built school on Bewsey Road.

It is hoped that as many former pupils as possible will attend and share their memories and photographs with their ‘old’ classmates.
