BATH Rugby Club have seen thousands of tries scored in their 153-year history.

The famous blue, black, and white have been one of England’s top rugby union clubs since their inception. From English Premiership league winning tries to European Challenge Cup scores, Bath have tallied top tries for more than a century and a half.

Here is a look at some of the best tries in Bath Rugby Club history.

Tom Homer vs. Gloucester – 2018

Bath defeated Gloucester 43-20 in their April 2018 meeting. The fixture saw Tom Homer score what was voted joint-try of the season by Bath supporters. Homer received the ball in his own half and broke through Gloucester’s tacklers toward goal. After cutting to his left to avoid Gloucester’s final row of tacklers, he was taken down just as he crossed the goal line for five points.

David Trick vs. Nottingham – 1984

Bath won the 1983-84 John Player Cup trophy with a 10-9 win over Bristol. However, it was David Trick’s fantastic try scored in a hard fought 12-3 semifinal win over Nottingham that is remembered by fans near and far. Prop Chris Lilley chipped the ball down field for Trick to run on to. Trick’s ability to outpace Nottingham’s defence led to the score and Bath advancing to the cup final.

Jonathan Joseph vs. Toulouse – 2015

Winning 25-18 against Toulouse in the Champions Cup, centre Jonathan Joseph created a moment of magic that will go down in Bath history. After being pushed back by the Toulouse line, Joseph received the ball and advanced it with a touch of his right boot. The ball bounced up to the centre’s hands and Joseph sped through the Toulouse defence. Avoiding tacklers, Joseph cut to the right side of the pitch and looked set to score one of the unlikeliest of tries. Yet, as he neared the goal line Joseph passed to hooker Ross Batty who then passed to flanker Francois Louw. It was a great individual effort capped off by fine team play.

Last year’s schedule for the champions Cup & Challenge Cup were given a bit late, we already have every fixture for this year. Let’s hope it will help the team to prepare as good as they can to provide the fans with those kinds of tries!

Tony Swift vs. London Wasps – 1995

Bath met London Wasps in the 1995 Pilkington Cup final. The 5ft 10in winger became a club legend during his 10-year career with Bath. In the 1995 Pilkington Cup final, the speedy winger featured in his final game for the club. It was the perfect send off as Bath destroyed their rivals 36-16. Swift got on the scoresheet with a 53rd minute try. Swift received a pass on the right wing and slalomed through Wasps’ defence. It may not have been his greatest try, but it was the final of his storied Bath career. Swift registered 161 tries in 236 matches in a Bath shirt.

Jeremy Guscott vs. Bristol - 1997

Jeremy Guscott played from 1984 to 2000 for Bath and scored an amazing 143 tries for the club. Considered one of England’s greatest rugby players, Guscott was one of the best Bath players to play during the amateur and professional eras. In 1997, Guscott was a part of Bath’s slim 18-13 win over their rivals. Down 13-5 at halftime, Guscott led Bath back with an outstanding try. After dummying a Bristol defender, he escaped outside two more would be tacklers to score in the corner. Like so many times before, Guscott was the catalyst to Bath’s win thanks to his brilliance.

For this year, if Bath are high for many bookmakers, it doesn’t mean that they can’t achieve anything on the pitch. You can rely on a guide to rugby betting if you want to try to get the most out of Bath’s season in the Gallagher Premiership.
