A PACKED programme of events take place in Warrington over the next two weeks during a national celebration.
Heritage Open Day weekends take place this weekend and next, September 15 and 16.
And events will take place across the borough.
Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member culture and partnerships, Cllr Dan Price, said: “Warrington is a place that is steeped in history, and there’s so much to discover here.
"That’s why I’m delighted that we are taking such an active role in this year’s Heritage Open Days celebrations.
“A range of partners have worked together to deliver a diverse programme of free events, including exhibitions, walks, talks, and much more.
"There’s something for everyone – so don’t miss out on your opportunity to find out more about Warrington’s rich heritage.”

Thursday, September 6 Warrington Herstories at Warrington Museum
A special talk exploring the stories of local women who have helped shape life in the borough.
Thursday, September 6 Inspired by Alice at All Saints Church in Daresbury
A chance to visit the church where Lewis Carroll was baptized, see his stained glass memorial window and walk across the fields and lanes to the site of Daresbury Parsonage where he was born.
Saturday, September 8 Padgate Heritage Day Christ Church, Station
Exploring the history of the Padgate area
Saturday, September 8, Deaf Museum and Archive, Empire Court Museum Street
Enjoy a national collection of artefacts, artwork and archive collections at the only museum in Britain that is specific to Deafness, Deaf communities and Deaf people.
Saturday, September 8 Extraordinary Women from the Parish of Daresbury
Watch out for the talks and exhibitions at Hatton Show, Daresbury Village
Saturday, September 8 Museum of Policing in Cheshire Open Day, Warrington Police Station
Housed in the Victorian cells in Warrington Police Station, the Museum of Policing collects preserves and exhibits artefacts spanning the history of policing in the county since the force was founded in 1883.
Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 Museum of Freemasonry Open Day, Warrington Masonic Hall , 15 Winmarleigh Street
Enjoy guided tours of the masonic rooms and museum, a Freemasonry and a Firdt World War exhibition, Lady Lever masonic items, and lots of children’s activities.
Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 15 Wolves Heritage Event The Halliwell Jones Stadium
The Halliwell Jones Stadium will be hosting a range of events, including a programme fair, shirt sale and heritage timeline tour.
Sunday, September 9 and Sunday, September 16 100 Years On - Commemorating the Great War and its impact on Lymm, Lymm Heritage Centre, Legh Street
Visitors can examine a collection of artefacts and photographs at relating to the First World War.
Thursday, September 18, Fildes and His House in London, Warrington Museum & Art Gallery
A special talk at Warrington Museum will give people the chance to discover the history of Woodland House, a luxurious Victorian London property commissioned by Warrington artist Luke Fildes, which is now a celebrity residence.
Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16 Burtonwood Nostalgia Weekend Gulliver’s World
Commemorating the RAF/USAF air base and the personnel based there.
Sunday, September 16 Warrington Local History Day, Alford Hall
Meet local historians, see photos, maps, books and displays, at Alford Hall.
Churches, various dates
A number of Warrington’s historic churches will be opening up their doors to the public, on both weekends, including Cairo Street Chapel, St Barnabas, St Elphin’s, St John the Evangelist, The Parish of St Luke and St Mary’s Church.
