AS you would expect in Wembley Week, Warrington Guardian is rammed with Challenge Cup Final coverage.

And taking centre stage is the 20-page Wembley supplement, another belting cup final souvenir in line with the four assembled by our journalists over the past nine years.

We get up close and personal with the key characters, exploring their lives as well as focusing on the big match against Catalans Dragons.

Head coach Steve Price, who leads The Wire into a final for the first time just nine months into the job, tells about his upbringing, when injury cut short his playing career at the age of 22 and the coaching journey he has been on since.

It is set to be a Wembley debut too for Warrington’s very own Harvey Livett, Dec Patton and Joe Philbin, who have lived previous finals as fans in the stands and talk about now having their time to shine in primrose and blue.

We met up with Bryson Goodwin and his family at Walton Gardens and focus on how they have settled into the town and what the final means to a man whose father and brothers have history steeped in rugby league.

Stef Ratchford reveals the scary moments for him and his family going into the semi-final win against Leeds Rhinos and how his new-born daughter Tullulah could be a lucky omen for The Wire on Saturday.

Warrington Guardian:

Our sports writers give their opinions on two players who have lit up Warrington’s season, the new king on the wing Josh Charnley and homegrown talent Mike Cooper who has been recalled into the England set-up as a result of his form.

It’s potentially Super Bennie Westwood’s fifth final and so we asked him for five things on various themes – such as what a player should do on cup final day and other sports he thinks he would be good at.

Skipper Chris Hill answers questions put forward by fans, including one asking about a ‘more ruthless’ Hilly this season and he points out: “It’s not tiddlywinks.”

Catalans Dragons personalities feature too, including a phone chat with Louis Anderson who is looking forward to a ‘Battle of the Beasts’ against the club with whom he twice secured winner’s medals in the Tony Smith era.

Tongan terrors Ben Murdoch-Masila and Sitaleki Akauola reveal all about their blossoming ‘bromance’ as well as highlighting how faith plays a part in their lives on and off the field.

Karl Fitzpatrick recalls his first Wembley experience and how a baptism of fire as Wolves chief executive became a fantastic learning curve.

And then there’s the sixes – Lee Briers and Kevin Brown discuss the parallels in their careers and the relationship they now have as coach and student in contrast to being rivals on the field way before they faced each other in the 2009 Wembley decider.

Head of rugby operations Kylie Leuluai explains how The Wire have turned round a disappointing 2017 to be now challenging for honours again.

Round that off with interesting stats and trivia, plus there’s the regular match build-up in the sports section where past Wolves players predict the final score, Jack Hughes tells where the game will be won and lost, and we have the results of our online fans’ cup final survey.

Latest team news and the records set to be broken by club legend Westwood further compliment the Wire front page and a picture feature in the news section on fans’ decorated houses and pets.

Our Wembley supplements are legendary, they are a cup final tradition and we think you’ll love this one.
