A BRAVE mum has vowed not to let 'this disgusting disease take over her life' after starting her second cycle of chemotherapy on Monday.

Kirsty Mcdonald, from Orford, will face a difficult few days as she struggles with the side effects of the treatment – but she remains positive.

The 26-year-old said: "The next few days will probably be difficult with sickness joint and bone pain but I’ll be back up and out before the week is out – that’s a promise.

"There is no way this disgusting disease is taking over my life. I’ve got family and friends to love and make memories with."

The mum-of-two is currently fighting cervical cancer for the third time in 18 months.

More than £22,000 has already been raised to provide her with financial relief as she faces the fight of her life and fund treatment outside of the NHS after her cancer was diagnosed as terminal.

Kirsty has one more cycle of chemotherapy before a scan at the end of August which will hopefully provide a better insight into her current diagnosis.

On Sunday, Kirsty's loved ones gathered at the Postern Gate in the town centre to wish her well for her treatment the following day.

A surprise video was played to Kirsty with messages from well-wishers and footage with family and friends.

She said: "I'm so overwhelmed with the support from everyone around me.

"It was amazing to have everyone I love all together – obviously except my beautiful sister Jodie and her amazing fiancée Soph. I can’t wait to see you both.

"I’m so positive and ready for cycle two of chemo.

"You lot have really lifted my spirits and I can’t thank you all enough.

"With support like this I’ll never give up never accept my diagnosis and I promise to fight this with all I have."
