A RESTAURANT and bar chain that models its venues on being a home away from home has opened in Golden Square.

The West Country based Loungers has transformed the former post office in the Old Fish Market into Dorado Lounge, creating 25 jobs.

Dorado's menu features tapas, burgers, beef chilli, buttermilk chicken, steak frites, mac and cheese and paninis among many other dishes.

And there are specially made menus available for vegans and those on a gluten-free diet as well as kids' meals.

Loungers is currently the UK's fastest growing pub company with more than 100 sites.

At Dorado you can expect a retro and Pop Art inspired retreat with eclectic artwork, vintage sofas and old school benches.

Robynn Hughes, general manager, said: "We go for a home away from home style.

"It’s cosy, comfortable and we want it to have a stay all day sort of vibe

"You can have a meal or a drink or you can just play one of our board games with a coffee."

Loungers was founded in Bristol in 2002 by a trio of long standing friends, Dave Reid, Alex Reilley and Jake Bishop.

They originally came up with the restaurant's quirky style as a way to save money – but it soon caught on.

Robynn, 25, added: "When the company was founded in 2002 it was just three guys who were working in hospitality.

"They all put £10,000 in to create their own place and while they were decorating they ran out of money.

"So they raided Dave’s granddad’s loft for furniture and that’s where our décor has come from.

"We’ve kept that style and we’ve got the original photos on the wall of Dave’s family still which is nice."

Robynn also explained why Warrington was chosen.

The 25-year-old added: "We want to be embedded in the community more than anything so we try and steer away city centres.

"We want to offer somewhere people can go to more easily.

"That fits in with our home away from home vibe and Warrington is really up-and-coming at the moment with lots of new developments."
