POLICE are hunting an escaped prisoner who was jailed for attempted murder.

Ross Ryan absconded from HMP Thorn Cross in November, having been jailed for 19 years for attempted murder.

The 29-year-old, from Levenshulme, shot a man in the leg when he stepped outside his home for a cigarette in 2008.

Ryan also has links to the Openshaw and Gorton areas on Manchester.
