READER Karen Curnane has shared this photograph of the 1969 Crosfields open age rugby league team before they stormed to victory to take home the trophy in a fiercely-fought final match.
This picture was taken before the starting whistle was blown to signal the start of the Lancashire Cup final at Wilderspool against rivals Latchford Albion.
Crosfields went on to win 14-11 and a week later completed a cup double by becoming champions against Pilkington Rec.
Crosfields players included Gilly Wright, John Reynolds, Bernard Maloney, Eddie Bowler, Billy Delooze, Fred Worrall, Mike Donnison, Jimmy Hutchinson, Terry O’Neill, Frank Delooze, Billy Curnane, Tommy Nolan, Stan Fisher, Paul Hughes and Peter Lowe.
