A BIRCHWOOD pub has been given a six-figure transformation by Warrington-based design company DV8 Designs.

Lee Birchall, managing director for the design firm, and his team were appointed by Greene King Brewery Plc, which operates more than 3,000 venues across the UK, to transform The Poacher, on Gorse Covert Road in Birchwood.

The company, based on Birchwood Park, redesigned the pub in two weeks to create a rural feel, with rustic timber and an 'earthy' colour palette.

Lee said: "Throughout my career, I have always been particularly passionate about our area of Warrington and it is always rewarding for us to work on a project that is beneficial to the area.

"Needless to say, we were thrilled when we were given the opportunity to work on our very own local, The Poacher.

"To really play on the name 'The Poacher' we incorporated 3D artwork focusing on traditional British game and incorporated a variety of fabrics to reupholster existing furniture and give it a new lease of life.

"Using a combination of decorative tiling and clever positioning of light fittings, we were also able to create a new focal point for the pub in the form of the bar servery. We are delighted to hear that since reopening, trading performance is exceeding expectations."
