A MAN has been remanded in custody at Liverpool Crown Court charged with the murder of Angela Craddock.

William Smart, 54, of Winmarleigh Street in the town centre, appeared at crown court this morning, Tuesday.

He will remain in custody and will next appear on June 15 to enter a plea.

A provisional trial date has been set by Judge Clement Goldstone QC for October 9, which is estimated to last five days. 

Smart did not speak during the hearing and appeared via video link.

The victim, Angela Craddock, aged 40, was found at around 10.40pm last Tuesday at an address on St Elphins Close suffering serious head injuries.

She later died at Warrington Hospital.
