TOYS R Us has launched a closing down sale after the firm went into administration this week.

Posters were put up in the windows of the Gemini store today, Friday, announcing everything must go - despite the firm insisting it is still seeking a buyer.

Shoppers have been rushing to the toy shop in the hope of grabbing a good bargain, with queues reported at the tills this afternoon.

While those expecting huge price reductions may have been disappointed, there are currently modest discounts on the majority of items.

The biggest reductions are on dolls, reduced by 30 per cent while favourite Lego currently only has 10 per cent off and most computer games remain at their usual price - for now.

Other reductions include:

25 per cent off wheeled toys and bikes, and wooden toys

20 per cent off pre-school toys, action figures (including Star Wars and Transformers), books, Disney's Cars toys, Vtech, board games, craft items, PJ masks and Paw Patrol toys, Fisher Price Imaginext sets (a favourite with young Batman fans) and Nerf guns

10 per cent off Duplo, My Little Pony and collectables, including Sylvanian Families.

And for expectant parents or those with younger children, there are reductions in the store's baby aisles, including 20 per cent off prams and high chairs.

Discounts are currently in-store only, as trading has been suspended on the Toys R Us website since the firm revealed it had gone into administration earlier this week, putting 3,000 UK jobs at risk.

Administrator Moorfields has been appointed to conduct what it called an orderly wind-down of the company's store portfolio.
