DO you play the ukulele? Then Warrington Market needs you this weekend.
A celebration is being planned to celebrate Warrington legend George Formby's birthday on May 26.
To gather supporters and create a photo opportunity ahead of the event, all of the area's ukulele aficionados are asked to meet at the market at 11am on Saturday.
Although born in Wigan, George Formby's roots were in Warrington. His father, the original music hall George Formby, lived at Hillcrest in Stockton Heath, where his more famous son was a regular visitor.
Both Formbys are buried in a family grave at Warrington cemetery, on Manchester Road.
A spokesman said: "All you need is your uke and a cheery smile.
"On May 26 we aim to celebrate Warrington’s connection with George by organising a massive Formby thrash at the market.
"We want you to help us tell the story of George, and how his memory – and music – lives on today."
