A SCHOOL girl from Latchford has proven she is 'wise beyond her years' after supporting her family during the premature birth of her three siblings.

Ten-year-old Daisy Fletcher has been shortlisted for a Tommy’s Award, which is hosted by baby charity Tommy’s.

The Water Babies Super Sibling Award celebrates a big brother or sister who has proven to be wise beyond their years after the early arrival of their new baby brother or sister.

Daisy was nominated by her mum Freya Fletcher.

The 30-year-old said: “My daughter has not only been through the stress of having an extremely premature sibling once, but three times.

"The last time in April 2017, she was so brave, and helped me so much.

"In 2009 her brother was born at 32 weeks, in 2012 her sister was born at 33 weeks and in 2017 her youngest sister was born at 31 weeks.

"Each time she has coped amazingly, and as she's got older this time she has been a massive help, never moaned about the time spent in hospital, and spent time talking to her brother and sister and trying to allay their fears.

"She's a brilliant daughter, and an even better big sister who loves her brother and sisters immeasurably.”

Now in its 23rd year, the Tommy’s Awards recognise heroes of families who’ve have been touched by pregnancy complications, or the loss of a baby.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 16 at the Landmark Hotel in London.
