TWO Good Samaritans stepped in to subdue a knife-wielding man who was making threats in a town centre pub.

Police were called to the Barley Mow on Old Market Place following reports of a man armed with knives at around 6pm yesterday, Wednesday.

When officers arrived, two men had helped to detain to the man.

Five kitchen knives were seized at the scene.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article.

He remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.
