WALTON Hall staff are working on a core project to make a garden at the site even more appealing.
With help from the Friends of Walton Hall Warrington Borough Council staff are turning a tired old rose garden into an orchard.
Trees will be available to adopt as part of the friends group’s ‘Adopt a tree scheme’ with the first crop planned to be harvested in five years’ time.
Cllr Tony Higgins, executive member for leisure, said: “Winter is always a busy time for staff at Walton Hall and Gardens as they do all the work behind the scenes to renovate and refresh the park.
“This new orchard will be a wonderful addition to the site.”
