WORK to create a bowling alley in the former BHS store in the town centre is set to begin.

Superbowl UK is set to invest £1.9m in the Golden Square Shopping Centre unit, bringing 12 ‘state-of-the-art’ ten pin bowling lanes, a Crazy Club soft play centre, a Ninja Tag assault course, an amusement arcade, a food diner and a ‘boutique’ lounge sports bar.

Opening in early 2019, the bowling alley will bring 35 new jobs to the town.

Director Kate Quaintance-Blackford said: “Superbowl UK Warrington presents us with an exciting opportunity to extend our distinctive brand of family entertainment in Cheshire, where we believe it will prove extremely popular.

“We are one of very few companies in the UK offering a range of high quality facilities under one roof and, because of that, we’re very confident about the success of the new site here in Warrington.

“The unit is in a prominent location within Golden Square and we’re confident our late opening hours will drive footfall during off-peak periods such as weekday evenings.”

Golden Square Shopping Centre director Ian Cox added: “We are so excited that Superbowl UK will be bringing its fantastic family offering to Golden Square and Warrington.

“We listen to what our customers want and we’re sure that they’ll be thrilled by this newest addition to the centre.”

As revealed in the Warrington Guardian last month, plans are also in place to open a bowling alley in the temporary market building.

Hollywood Bowl is understood to be behind that application.
