A GANG of criminals used a pickup truck to smash their way through a wall in a ram raid on a convenience store in the early hours of today, Monday.
Martin’s newsagents on Fearnhead Cross was targeted in the raid shortly before 1.30am, with offenders using a silver pickup truck to smash through the rear wall of the premises.
Cheshire Police were unable to gain access to the scene on Insall Road until later in the day due to a damaged gas main, and it is currently unknown if any items were stolen.
Detective constable Steve Owen said: “Investigations into this incident are currently in their very early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.
“As part of this, I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witness anything suspicious.
“I’m also keen to locate the vehicle that was used by the offenders, which we believe is a silver pickup truck that will have significant damage to its rear bumper.
“I would ask anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 35 of November 13.
“Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
