A YOUNG singer and actor has performed onstage alongside her childhood heroes after winning a talent competition.

Hannah Gallimore, from Longbarn, sang onstage with Grammy Award-nominated folk four-piece Celtic Woman at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester during their UK tour.

The 23-year-old was introduced by the Celtic ensemble during their Halloween gig at the 2,300-capacity venue and performed solo during their set.

She said: "I've been a fan of Celtic Woman for years.

"My dad introduced me to them when I was about 12, so I've followed them for years.

"It was completely nerve-wracking - I couldn't control my nerves at all.

"I think it was definitely one of the biggest audiences I've performed in front of singing solo, and it was an experience I'll never forget for sure."

Hannah, who is pursuing a career in musical theatre, had won the chance to perform with Celtic Woman after winning their Voices of Angels competition by uploading videos of her singing Danny Boy and Somewhere Over the Rainbow to Youtube.

The former Priestley College student added: "I've been doing musicals and dancing pretty much my whole life, and I decided that I really wanted to do musical theatre as a career when I went to college.

"I just thought I'd enter the competition and see what happened - I didn't think anything would come of it, but I ended up winning.

"Out of however many people entered the competition only seven were chosen, and I was one of them so I was kind of lucky really.

"It was crazy and to be honest I thought they'd sent it to the wrong person at first, but it was just amazing."
