DID you hear something that sounded like an air raid siren this morning?

However you describe it, we have had a number of readers getting in touch with us asking what was going on. 

But the good news is it's nothing to worry about. 

The sound was coming from Solvay’s Warrington factory on Baronet Road in Lower Walton.

The site is a top tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2006) site.

And as part of health and safety regulations, the COMAH alarm is tested on the first Monday of each month.

So there you have it, mystery solved.
