VISITORS searching for Warrington Transporter Bridge will be helped on their way by a new information board directing them to the historic site.
The board has been installed at Bank Park to inform residents and visitors about the unique bridge, while also showing them how to find the Grade II listed site.
The Friends of Warrington Transporter Bridge (FoWTB) held a brief ceremony in Bank Park on Saturday, November 26, to unveil it.
Two former Crosfields employees, Arthur Jones, who was civil project engineer for the company, and Geoff Gleave, who is the fifth generation in his family to work for the firm and serviced the electrics on the bridge every two weeks, performed the unveiling.
They were helped by FoWTB's youngest supporter William Barker, aged just 14 months.
The council has also added a fingerpost to point in the general direction of the bridge – a move praised by FoWTB chairman Margaret Ingham.
She said: "We are very pleased with the efforts made by the council to ensure that Warrington people know that we have this very special bridge on our doorstep."
Badges commemorating 100 years of the bridge were also on offer on Saturday.
