THE legacy of Viola Beach drummer Jack Dakin will live on in a trust named in his memory.

The Jack Piers Dakin Legacy Trust was announced during the 2016 Presto Music Awards at the Parr Hall which celebrates the successes of music students from the school.

This initiative was set up by Jack's family alongside Presto to deliver free drum lessons to primary schools.

Jack from Old Hall died alongside his bandmates Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and manager Craig Tarry following a crash in Sweden as they returned home from their first international gig.

The 19-year-old always had a passion for music and honed his talents at the school in Warrington.

An award was also named in his memory and will be given to a student who has made an outstanding musical achievement.

This year's award was presented to Lucy Pickett.

The Presto Music Awards night saw more than 150 performers demonstrate their talents at the Parr Hall.

Lucy Thurstan was named keyboardist of the year, Jamie Pickett was given the guitarist of the year title and Amber Hope was awarded as vocalist of the year.

Olivia Mei was named young musician of the year while Seif Youseff and Yassin Youseff were recognised for outstanding musical effort.
