STUDENTS at Woolston Sixth Form College have put together a charity recipe book.

Nine special needs students at the Holes Lane college have put together a cook book to raise money for Guide Dogs UK.

Two of the teens are visually impaired and one is currently in the process of getting a guide dog.

Teaching assistant Vickie Whitehead said: “We have two students who are visually impaired and the children did an enterprise project on how to make money.

“They decided to make a recipe book and all the money raised will go on to guide dogs because one of our learners is in the process of getting a guide dog.

“They asked staff and their parents for recipes they had – family recipes or anything like that.

“My in-law’s dad was a chef in the navy and they gave me his recipe book to use.

“We’ve had a lot of orders already and made quite a bit of money.”

The book has raised £300 so far, backed by paper donations from the likes of Sainsbury’s, Staples and Tesco.

They are on the lookout for more businesses to donate paper to allow them to make further books to sell.

Vickie added: “We’ve had a lot of orders already and made quite a bit of money.

“We’ve got a Christmas fair coming up and we’re hoping to secure a few more orders – if a few more business could help it would be great.”
