ARMED with confetti, lasers and indoor fireworks, Las Vegas quartet The Killers put on a show like no other, lighting Liverpool’s Echo Arena up like a very large Christmas tree.

Coming on stage to one of their most famous anthems, Mr Brightside, it was clear the band had chosen their opening number well, with the 11,000-strong crowd singing along to every single line.

Despite promoting their latest album, Battle Born, the set was in no means littered with new material.

In fact, their set spanned the full length of the band’s 11-year back catalogue, with new songs Runaways and Miss Atomic Bomb slipping in perfectly between classics including Somebody Told Me and When You Were Young.

A natural performer, energetic frontman Flowers kept the crowd entertained all night, parading around the stage and barely keeping still for more than a second.

He encouraged the crowd to sing along and yet, after all these years, he still seemed taken aback by how much the audience loved him.

For a die-hard fan of The Killers, it was a real night to remember, even if there was a slight technical glitch with the lights at the start of the set.

Even without the dark lights and special effects, The Killers truly are a band made for performing.
