A CHANCE to journey back in time at a magnificent location, Rewind North was a resounding success.

The 80s music festival launched at Capesthorne Hall in 2014 and this year's event was just as special.

By Friday, campers and glampers were already setting up and artists were getting their picture taken and being interviewed in the press tent.

But Saturday and Sunday was when the festival really came to life with an amazing line-up which allows you to see 24 bands and singers over both days, followed by a spectacular firework show on each night.

The festival also encourages fans to turn back the clock 30 years by dressing up in fancy costumes with wigs and colourful leg warmers while seeing the legends perform their iconic hits.

Most of the crowd grew up listening to these songs so the atmosphere was electric and definitely worth seeing for the second consecutive year.

The highlight for me was Jimmy Somerville, who stole the show for the second year in a row.

Katrina Leskanich, formerly of Katrina & The Waves, brought the sunshine with her as she belted out her famous tune Walking on Sunshine.

It was also a thrill to see Bob Geldof with The Boomtown Rats.

The line-up also included the likes of Human League, OMD, Kim Wilde, Belinda Carlisle, The Sugar Hill Gang, ABC, Soul II Soul, Heather Small, Kid Creole, The South and, last but not least, the one and only Chesney Hawkes.

In addition to the musical entertainment the festival also provides many other attractions including a silent disco, funfair, themed bars and a karaoke bar where fans could relive more of their 80s favourites.

Keep your diary free for Rewind North 2016 – I'll certainly be returning on the strength of the festival over the last two years.
