THIN Lizzy and Gloria Gaynor will headline Rewind North when the festival returns to Capesthorne Hall in August.

The 80s celebration marked its 10th anniversary last year with a series of huge events.

So the 2019 festival has a lot to live up to but organisers promise a more diverse line-up which will now include a comedy programme and family activities.

Katt Lingard, Rewind festival event manager, said: “Following our milestone 10th anniversary last year, we are excited to take Rewind into the future with a celebration of not just 80s artists but also legends whose influence spans far beyond the decade.

“It’s going to be a fantastic three days in Capesthorne Hall with something for everyone.”

As a warm up on August 2, Martin Kemp will be playing a DJ set of 80s gold.

Then disco and R&B queen Gloria Gaynor will be headlining Rewind for the first time on August 3.

Joining her are Tiffany, M People’s Heather Small, Hazel O’Connor, UB40, featuring Ali Campbell and Astro, The Dire Straits Experience, Neville Staple, The Undertones and The Primitives.

Ali Campbell and Astro, from UB40, said: “There is nothing quite like performing at Rewind. The audiences are some of the happiest you will find anywhere and it’s very special to be a part of that.

“This is looking like the festival’s most diverse line-up yet. It’s going to be great seeing all these artists from different genres and decades come together in one place.”

The Thin Lizzy boys are back in town on August 4 to mark their 50th anniversary year.

The band released 12 albums throughout the 70s and early 80s, spawning the signature songs, The Boys Are Back in Town, Whiskey In The Jar, Dancing In The Moonlight (It Caught Me In Its Spotlight) and Jailbreak.

Guitarist Scott Gorham added: “It’s an honour to play Rewind – with so many classic artists on the bill it’s going to be a day to remember.”

Joining Thin Lizzy are Heaven 17, Joyce Sims, Cutting Crew, Black Box, Bjorn Again, The Selecter, From The Jam with Bruce Foxton and Level 42, led by Mark King.

Mark said: “I’m delighted to be bringing Level 42 to Rewind North again this year, and very proud to see this fab festival become one of the very best 80s themed events in the UK.

“Getting to meet the festival goers is always a joy for us too, both young and not so young, because the ethos of Rewind is ‘bring the family and party on’.”

For those who are bringing the whole family Rewind’s kids’ area includes circus skills workshops, family sports days and giant bubble parties.

Over the coming months, the comedy and full entertainment line up will also be revealed.
