TERRY Waite will be returning to Warrington as part of the Festival of Remembrance, Celebration and Peace at Parr Hall.

The humanitarian and author, who grew up in Lymm, will be a special guest at the evening hosted by Warrington Male Voice Choir.

The event is to to remember and honour those who have lost their lives in conflicts and to mark the end of the First World War. Terry, who is the choir’s patron, will be reading one of his own poems from his book, Out of the Silence: Memories, Poems, Reflections.

Host Bob Williams said: “His poem Peace will be very appropriate on an evening which will celebrate the end of the First World War and the peace that followed, as well as remember and honour those who have lost their lives in conflicts.

“Also, to further strengthen the involvement of young people, this year’s festival will see The Choir of Great Sankey High School and Barrow Hall College taking part for the first time.

“Under the direction of musical director Jo Foster, they will sing two songs, Wherever You Are and Across The Bridge Of Hope as part of the move during the evening from remembrance to peace.”

The evening will also feature The Combined Bands of The Lancashire Artillery and The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, Service Cadet contingents, a drumhead service of remembrance and reflection led by The Rev Canon Paul Wilson and an audience singalong.
