YOUNG Warrington actors will be sharing the stage with a steam engine in the classic play The Railway Children.
Children and teenagers, aged between seven and 18, have been rehearsing for more than four months with Encore Productions to present their adaptation of the E. Nesbitt drama.
They will be treading the boards with a cast of adults and a full-size prop of a steam engine to bring this story, made famous by the 1970 film starring Jenny Agutter and Bernard Cribbins, to life.
The coming-of-age story, which also offers an insight into Edwardian rural life, follows siblings Roberta, Peter and Phyllis whose lives are turned upside down when their father disappears.
The volunteer-run Encore Productions was formed 10 years ago to provide adult performers with an outlet to showcase their talents.
After The Railway Children the team will be working on their new musical, The Wind in the Willows, which will be staged at the Brindley in Runcorn in April 2019.
The Railway Children is being staged at the Pyramid from today, Thursday, until Saturday.
Tickets are £15.75 with concessions available. Call 442345 or visit pyramidparrhall.com
