MOVE over burgers.

Somebody somewhere has decided that today, July 19, is the day the spotlight turns on hot dogs and therefore named it National Hot Dog Day.

And rather than quibble why this exact date has been chosen, we thought we would pick out some of the top places in Warrington you can get your sausage in a bun fix for your tea.

Think we've missed anywhere? Let us know below.

1. Dead Eye's Cocktail and Hot Dog Den, town centre

This one kind of goes without saying seeing as it's even in the name of the place but options include the Monster Dog topped with Southwest sauce, Monster Munch and pulled beef and the Junkyard Dog with onion, bbq sauce, American mustard, bacon bits and Southwest sauce.

2. Stockyard, Stockton Heath

Still the relative new kid on the block, Stockyard gets extra brownie points for their pun-tastic offering Pork This Way topped with pulled pork whereas their 1/2 metre hot dog (pictured) can be upgraded with pulled pork or chilli beef. Reckon you could finish it?

3. The Pit Smokehouse, Culcheth

The self-proclaimed 'meat masters' say their take on the American classic is served in a brioche bun with either candy bacon and cheese, beans or jalapenos and cheese.

4. Frankie and Benny's, Westbrook

You can 'keep it classic' with their foot-long pork Bockwurst ‘dog’ in a large soft bun, served with sweetcorn relish and fries or upgrades include mac 'n' cheese.

5. Institution, town centre

Smoked Pork hot dog 'The Big Dawg' is served on a brioche bun with chips or you can add extra toppings to create your own.
