THREE bands are to play a showcase in the Cultural Quarter as part of the launch of a record label.

Psymmetry Records was established by former St Gregory’s RC High School pupil Greg Dixon, pictured, and Rosie Bonson earlier this year to help alternative rock artists get a foot in the door of the music industry.

The label’s first showcase will see performances from Spilt, Slowhandclap and King Shade at The Lounge in Springfield Street on Friday, May 19.

Spilt, who have been getting heavy backing from Liverpool music blog Get Into This, recently released their first video, Acid Baby.

Slowhandclap from Manchester have just put out their single Vertigo through Psymmetry Records and they will be supporting Kagoule this Saturday at Night and Day Cafe in Manchester.

The not-for-profit gig will see all proceeds going directly to the bands. Doors open at 8pm with King Shade taking to the stage at 9pm. Entry is £3.

Greg, frontman of psychedelic rockers Psyblings, said: “We want to build Psymmetry as a movement and Warrington as a scene where artists are appreciated.”
