BROADWAY'S musical hit, Hairspray, is coming to The Brindley in Runcorn.

The Zodiac is putting on the production about the pursuit of stardom and the fight against racial injustice from March 17 to 21.

The amateur dramatic society has a number of Warrington members including director Barbara Worrall from Stockton Heath.

Rachel Kirkbride, chairman of The Zodiac, who plays the lead Tracy Turnblad, said: "We are delighted that when the amateur rights for this well-loved musical became available, we were chosen as the first society in the area to perform it.

"With hits such as 'Welcome to the 60s', 'Good Morning Baltimore' and the hip shaking 'You Can't Stop The Beat', we guarantee that everyone will be on their feet for a spectacular finale.

"We have a cast of more than 40 people and our costume department have been working flat out to ensure that every detail for each character will look spectacular."
