LYMM Festival organisers are hoping to entice food lovers with a host of gourmet events over the next few days.

Bridgewater Cruises is offering a range of food-themed narrowboat trips including an afternoon tea cruise on Thursday, a sunset cruise with a three-course meal on Friday, and a Sunday lunch cruise.

There is also a special event on Saturday when festival goers can enjoy an evening cruise and a three-course dinner while listening to a live performance by vocal soloist and guitarist Jade Tremarco.

Boarding for cruises is at the canal bank in the village centre on the Oughtrington side of The Cross bridge.

Lymm Festival’s popular street food event also returns on Thursday from 6pm to 8.30pm.

The attraction sees most of the village centre’s food outlets and bars lining the street to offer a range of British, Turkish, Chinese, Mediterranean, Italian and Indian dishes.

On top of that there will be sweet treats from Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream and The Meaningful Chocolate Company and tipples from The Wine Kitchen and The Prosecco Pot.

There will also be entertainment from musicians Accordion Spice and Lymm Adivas Dancers and children’s activities with Mr Dinosaur and Wonderslide World.

David Smith, deputy chairman for Lymm Festival, said: “Lymm is quite a foodie destination with a wide variety of cuisines for all tastes in its shops, restaurants and bars.

“It’s great to see all of our food producers and venues working together.

“They will be bringing their delicious food out onto the street for our traditional opening event on Thursday evening.”

The food and drink offering at Lymm Festival is completed with two tutored wine tastings on Saturday.

Owner Michael Taylor, who has lived in the village for 25 years, opened The Wine Kitchen in the village centre a year ago.

The former Lymm High School pupil and his team will be hosting a tasting of six wines from around the world and talking about their origin with accompanying food sharing boards.
