Gourmet burger restaurant brings touch of Americana to Warrington

BURGERS are big business these days.

Customers now demand so much more than meagre meat and limp lettuce slapped between two bland buns following the emergence of high-end fast food chains like Byron.

Step forward Top Deck providing customers in Warrington with their first gourmet burger fix in the town.

The newly-opened Stockton Heath restaurant has been bringing a touch of Americana to London Road with its wild west-themed dining area complete with Johnny Cash background music.

The menu provided a combination of burgers with bourbon with choices for vegetarians, chicken-lovers and the option for diners to create their own from a tempting list of toppings and sauces.

I eventually opted for the succulent and juicy Top Deck burger piled with smoky bacon, applewood smoked cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomato and chipotle sauce while my boyfriend tried the equally-tasty Texan, a 12oz Angus burger topped with cheddar, onion, gherkin and smoky barbecue sauce.

Our burgers were accompanied by homemade onion rings and skin-on chips which added to an incredibly fresh-tasting and filling meal.

The owners have worked hard to ensure the only part of guests’ meals that has travelled any distance is the Kentucky bourbon or San Francisco beer. With the meat coming from Cheadle Farm in Knutsford and the potatoes from Grappenhall, it is hard to imagine there are many burger restaurants providing food so fresh from sources so close to home.

Overall our trip to Top Deck was delicious and a serious contender in the battle of the gourmet burgers.
