AFTER reading Mrs Ward’s letter (Warrington Guardian, July 8) regarding the lack of decent shops in the town centre, we discussed it with our members at Sankey Seniors group.
Everyone agreed that there is a need for more shops and less eateries, especially clothes shops for older people.
Debenhams and Bon Marche have gone leaving Hancocks which seems to have lost its way regarding its target market.
Not wanting to go to Liverpool or Manchester in current conditions, we go to Widnes where there is M&S, Bon Marche and a good market all with the bonus of free parking.
People we know used to come to Warrington from Wigan and other surrounding areas to shop but no longer as there is nothing to attract them.
All our members would sign a petition if that is what it takes to wake our council up to the situation.
