THERE were smiles all round at a care home in Old Hall as live entertainers were allowed to perform in the garden once again.

Residents at Westvale House on Old Hall Road were treated to a garden concert featuring some classic hits from times gone by.

LeeAnn James performed an ABBA-themed show to celebrate the Queen’s birthday for staff and residents, who all said they really enjoyed themselves.

Just like the rest of the country, Government guidelines for care homes are starting to relax and performers can now entertain residents again safely in outdoor spaces.

Charlotte Sherrocks, general manager at Westvale House, said: “It is great to be able to open up our gardens again and have some live entertainment for our residents.

“We have really missed being able to welcome performers into our home during lockdown, although we have had lots of virtual concerts, quizzes and talks.

“It is lovely to be able to host events in the garden again now that lockdown is easing and the weather is getting warmer.”

Peter Best, a resident at Westvale House, added: “Staff here have been brilliant throughout lockdown putting on all kind of different events to keep us entertained.

“We have been very well looked after, but it is lovely to have some live entertainment again.
