ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M56 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 6-9 SLIP & LINK ROADS) AND M6 LINK ROADS AND A556 TRUNK ROAD [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M56 and M6 Motorways and A556 Trunk Road in the Boroughs of Cheshire East, Warrington and Trafford In the Counties of Cheshire and Greater Manchester to enable resurfacing, renewal of road markings and road studs, crack and traffic detector loop repairs, and other general maintenance work; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M56 and M6 Motorways and A556 Trunk Road in the Boroughs of Cheshire East, Warrington and Trafford In the Counties of Cheshire and Greater Manchester to enable resurfacing, renewal of road markings and road studs, crack and traffic detector loop repairs, and other general maintenance work; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

(a) impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of carriageway:



i. the M56 eastbound carriageway, from the centreline of Arley Road Bridge, to a point 200 metres east of the centreline of the A556 Chester Road Bridge;



ii. the M6 southbound to M56 eastbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 southbound carriageway, to the first point at which it joins the M56 eastbound carriageway;



iii. the southbound link road between the A50 and the M56, from the last point at which the southbound link road leaves the roundabout at M6 junction 20, to the first point at which it joins the M56 eastbound carriageway;



iv. the M56 westbound carriageway, from the centreline of Ryecroft Footbridge, to a point 80 metres west of the first point where the M6 northbound to M56 westbound link road joins the M56 westbound carriageway;



v. the M56 westbound entry slip road at junction 8;



vi. the M6 southbound to M56 westbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 southbound carriageway, to the first point at which it joins the M56 westbound carriageway;



vii. the M56 eastbound entry slip road at junction 6.



(b) ban all traffic from the following sections of carriageway:



i. the M56 eastbound carriageway, from a point 145 metres east □f the last point where the M56 eastbound to M6 northbound/ southbound link road leaves the M56 eastbound carriageway, to the centreline of the A556 Chester Road Bridge;



ii. the M56 westbound carriageway, from the centreline of Yarwoodheath Lane Bridge, to a point 122 metres east of the first point where the M6 northbound to M56 westbound link road joins the M56 westbound carriageway;



iii. the M56 eastbound entry slip road at junction 6 (as described in (a) vii above);



iv. the M56 westbound entry slip road at junction 8 (as described in (a) v above);



v. the M6 southbound to M56 eastbound link road, from the last point where it leaves the M6 southbound to M56 westbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M56 eastbound carriageway;



vi. the M56 westbound to M6 northbound link road, including the M56 westbound link road to the A50, up to the point where it joins the M6 northbound to the A50 link road.



(c) allow the hardshoulder adjacent to the sections of the M56 Motorway described at (b) i and ii above to be used as running lanes. A 50 mph speed limit will be in force on the hardshoulder when used as a running lane.



Restrictions (a) i-vi and (c) and prohibitions (b) are expected to be in place overnight between 2000 hours and 0500 hours (continuing until 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 19 June 2017 and ending on Friday 28 July 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed.

Restriction (a) vii is expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 2000 hours on Monday 19 June 2017 and ending at 0500 hours on Friday 28 July 2017. However, work may start and continue beyond these dates until completed.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M56 and M6 Motorways and local roads will be well signed.

The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, □r traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
