PAUL Carden has confirmed he will be looking to extend goalkeeper Charlie Albinson’s loan spell with Warrington Town, writes Matt Turner.

The 22-year-old stopper has made three appearances for Yellows since arriving on a one-month loan deal from Championship side Blackburn Rovers and kept his first clean sheet for the club in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Grantham Town.

Albinson was initially brought in to cover the absence of regular custodian Tony McMillan, who was ruled out with a gashed knee.

However, McMillan has now suffered a broken jaw in an accident at work and looks set for a much longer spell on the sidelines.

Carden does not expect McMillan to return until the new year, but says the wheels are already in motion to ensure Albinson remains with the squad.

“I’ve already spoken to Blackburn about it. All being well, I don’t foresee too many problems,” he said.

“They are okay with it and Charlie’s wanting to stay. He is enjoying it and he is doing really well for us.

“It just needs some confirmation from the Blackburn end that we can keep him.”

“Unfortunately, Tony has had an accident in work. He’s fallen and broken his jaw in a couple of places.

“I can’t see him back anytime soon. I’d think it would be around January time.”

Yellows travel to Hednesford Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm, with the Evo-Stik Premier Division now their sole focus.

Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Stockport County in the Cheshire Senior Cup means they are now out of all four cup competitions they were entered in for this season.

Carden says this can work to their advantage, but it is up to the players to make sure it does.

“We’ve got to do everything in our power to make sure we’re right every league game now there’s no other distractions,” he said.

“We’ve got to make sure it’s a blessing in disguise and take advantage of the fact we’ve only got one competition left to aim for.

“Hednesford’s management is probably the most experienced at this level of football.

“They are a bit of an up-and-down team. Some weeks they have good results and in others they have results that make you raise your eyebrows.

“We just have to make sure it’s about us.”
