Council should maintain its investment

TODAY, August 23, I ventured on to the canal bank path from Nottingham Close in Woolston to Paddington Meadows. This is a regular path that my family use to cycle and walk.

Over the past few years to the credit of the council, it has been resurfaced and made safe for use and is actually a pleasant area to walk.

Unfortunately over the last few weeks it has become a hazardous area. Dog waste litters the path and makes walking or riding uncomfortable.

If you then walk on to Paddington Meadow the wooden boardwalk that must have cost taxpayers thousands is now overgrown and impossible to walk down.

My daughter and I rode our bikes down it and had to stop after being stung numerous times by nettles.

Please can the council maintain what has clearly been invested in previously.

Why should any person from Warrington be surprised at the poor maintenance of the cycle paths, grass verges with the stick over pruned trees, poorly repaired roads & footpaths.
Staff cuts at the council and the use of out of Warrington contractors, who are taking large amounts of our money from our poorly managed council.
I cannot wait to see what the so called joint 70million highways contract will provide for the warrington people.
More outside contractors taking our money out of our town.
We need all these services in back in house and under full council management and control.
Spend the money in warrington for the warrington people and back to the days of a none profit making council, delivering good services and creating work for warrington people.
WE CAN ONLY HOPE THE RETURN OF THE DIRECT SERVICES NONE PROFIT MAKING ORGANISATION ONCE AGAIN.
EMPLOYING HUNDREDS OF WARRINGTON PEOPLE WORKING FOR WARRINGTON.
