Refused meeting with chairman

ON July 27 I called the chief executive’s office of Golden Gates Housing Trust and asked could I see the chairman for 15 minutes.

I was refused as I would not divulge what I wished to ask him.

Even at its next AGM it wants written questions prior to the event, a matter that I find totally unacceptable.

I challenge you to find any organisation that would give you access to its chairman without asking what you wanted

(If for no other reason than that, as far as they know, you could be a complete nutter )

didnt the chairman a while ago say his door is always open. i can not remember the article but yeah nick is right you will find it hard to talk to anyone at GGHT who is actually in a high enough position to help. ....................

but MR JOHN MULHALL is an ENVIRONMENTAL campaigner and is a panel member on many things concerning warrington not s nutter just trying to help people out most likely trying to talk to someone who can take responsibility rather than being shielded by his staff

JOHN MULHALL from Sankey Bridges? Not Whitecross? Try getting your address right you might stand a chance of speaking to someone. Personal I think the CEO was right to say no to you, try being open and honest you might get somewhere with people.

Why wouldn't you tell him? I think most people in any line of work wouldn't meet up with anybody who wouldn't tell them what they wanted to talk about. In fact, I don't even know why the Guardian has printed this.

because if he told him what he wanted to talk about he would almost certainly say no. and also it would give the chief executive time to plan his well rehearsed answers that most likely reflect the questions else ware away from themselves. i know from personal experience that no information given or told to staff EVER makes its way up the chain to were it is mean to go. but i dont need to worry about that anymore

Doesn't matter. Who the hell agrees to hold meetings when they don't know what the other person wants? Seriously moleogod - if somebody phoned you tonight and asked if they could come to see you and when you asked 'what about?' they refused to tell you, would you let them in your house?

I know I wouldn't grey man. I'd probably tell him to bugger off and don't bother me again or he might regret it.

ask for a meeting to discuss the fact that they wont give you a meeting.

John it sounds no different than when you 'have to' submit your questions to Full Council in writing and in advance at the Town Hall.
I agree with Nick and Cleo plus it's common curtesy when making such a request to clarify what the questions is. If you know what the question is then you can get them the information which might take a while to collate.
At the last Full Council one of your questions couldn't be answer off the cuff but you did receive a full reply a few days later.
