Please signpost the speed limit

THE road from LA Bowl towards Asda Westbrook used to have a load of 30mph speed limit signs. It also has street lights all the way along, which indicates it is a 30mph zone.

I take that road every day to get home from work and I drive at 30 mph. I always seem to have people practically pushing me up the road doing 40mph or more. It is annoying because I wanted to scream at them ‘Can you see the signs? It’s 30mph’. I feel very intimidated because of the attitude of other drivers who do not stick to the speed limit. The 30mph signs have gone and things are worse as everybody thinks it’s OK to drive as fast as they want. It will not be long before someone goes to cross the road to the shops and gets knocked down. There have been plenty of crashes on that roundabout so it would not surprise me!

Is there no way there could be some signs put back up?

Have you not seen the small '30' stickers they have applied to some road signs. Its called cut backs. They need to claw back the money they wasted on the stupid traffic lights at Westbrook.

So it's people like you that cause mile long tail backs on already congested rush hour roads... Well done Mr. Williams give yourself a pat on the back for holding most of Warrington up, and by the way, Cromwell Avenue is perfectly safe to do more than 30 on...

It may be perfectly safe to do more than 30 on Cromwell ave ( personally I think it could easily be 40 or more),but, it has a 30 limit and the copper with the speed gun is not concened with what you think the limit should be, rather with what it is. Personally, I like having a driving licence and would prefer not send it on holiday to Swansea!

I agree with mac, where there are limits it would be safer if drivers abided by limits rather than deciding they know better! Usually they don't and are the ones who can't properly control their vehicles and have little thought for other road users.

Who is Mr Williams !?!?

Anyway.. drove to Asda at Westbrook today and I agree there should be some noticable 30 mph signs along the whole stretch from the Peace Centre end to the LA Bowl end.

Although the highway code does state that any road not marked should be taken as being a 30mph zone the road in question does gives the impression of being of a higher speed limit especially as there are no houses etc on it.

I know it's a 30 but clearly the idiot driving 2 inches from my rear end today who then proceeded to wave his hands and shout obscenties at me as he over took thought the limit was higher too. HOPE HE GOT BOOKED !

A few signs alerting drivers would, if nothing else, at least stop such occurances of road rage and dangerous driving by people like him !!
